Yesterdays and Todays

I lost into the hurry. Hurry was losing myself and not cleaning my sins/mistakes. Do not hurry, just do it in balance, harmony. ~ Albulena Xhaferi

Today,
The scent of the newly cut grass filled my lungs breathing in the clean freshness after the rains.
Yesterday,
I hardly smelled anything. The only purpose of my nose was to breathe.

Yesterday,
I was cursing madly at the numerous pebbles scattered on the pavement.
Today,
I did lots of slaloms on the multitude of eroded roundness as I pass them.

Today,
The cool North wind complimented the heat of the sun’s rays.
Yesterday,
I questioned the East wind why it was blowing me off course.

Yesterday,
I felt my quads burning as I furiously fight against the East wind.
Today,
I glided with the embrace of the North wind and felt my whole legs tingling.

Today,
I hardly noticed my sweat but was very much aware of the warmth seeping through my whole body.
Yesterday,
Exhaustion got the better of me as I lean pathetically over the handles.

Yesterday,
The cottonwood blew across my path, blinding me.
Today,
The shower of cottonwood flowers tickled me immensely.

Today,
I paused to blow my nose because of the cottonwood.
Yesterday,
I was merely waving my arms angrily and spitting them out.

Yesterday,
I was annoyed at the massiveness of passing trucks and utility vans.
Today,
I was thrilled with them whizzing beside me.

Today,
I stopped to watch kids at the Splash Park.
Yesterday,
My lips were pursed trying to avoid the many people at the park.

Yesterday,
I only smiled and hardly waved at anyone.
Today,
I must have said good morning a thousand times, laughing with some even.

Today,
Time seemed non-existent.
Yesterday,
I pushed myself to get where I need to go, the end of each stretch of road, the turn at the next road.

Clouds begin to hover blocking the heat. A flash of lightning caressed the horizon. The north wind, a tad cooler.
Thunder showers.
Today, I need to go home. And was a bit sad this feeling can not go on. Telling my bike, “We’ll do this again soon”.  And the pedalling of my legs continued to lift and float me from having a wonderful ride, carrying this blissful feeling of finally realizing the difference between pushing myself (¿para qué)… and enjoying a new, yet familiar love.

We gain more strength when we savour the moments of kindness and compassion within ourselves…
Than when we hurry ourselves to get better.

Namaste. =)
