Defining Friendships

Odd Friendships.

define friendshpIt seems strange that some people I consider quite close to me, are slowly becoming estranged.
It is a weird coincidence to happen again.
Is it my eccentricity that drives them away?
Is it my unconventional ways that they step back?
Or perhaps my whimsical nature that they are unable to keep up?
The peculiarity of it all!
Yet I remain as atypical as an indefinable fantastical me.
T’is true to my deviant nature.
Neither judgemental or imposing; but only uncanny.
Take the curiosity or be sadly gone.
And I take with me the randomness of friendship.

Quote
People come into your path for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do with that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a dificulty…
To provide you with guidance and support…
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually…
They may seem like they are a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die…
Sometimes they walk away…
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand….
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled…
Their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has now been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON.
Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons.
Things you must build upon to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life…
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime

  1. Thank you for the encouragement, Lakshmi! Too often we analyze ourselves too much wondering what’s wrong with us. But really, we are all perfect. Some things only need to happen for some unknown purpose at this time.
And I high five you for sounding the same as me!! xo

  2. Oh I love your definition too Maia, I so resonate with it. I used to dampen my eccentricities, not any more. The more I become and show of myself, yes people leave my life, but that creates the space for more wonderfully eccentric, free-spirited people to enter it too. Am sharing your blog. Thank you. Blessings to you

    • Thank you, Di! You mentioned ‘space’… I like spaces… this is another way of defining what we go through with our relations, where we practice the art of letting go.
Enjoy the rest of your day! =)

  3. Nice post, Maia….

I thought I had some people close to me….somewhere….I couldn’t remember. Over the years my vision improved and I felt part of everyone….and everyone part of me.

    I realized that previously

I could not see the trees

    for the forest

    😉

    • Sorry for replying late. But thank you for reading this! =)

There’s a word… gestalt. Seeing things as a whole and not the sum of its parts. There used to be this thing on the internet where the vowels are taken out in a sentence, but still readable.
And while that certainly amused me and was amazed, I can’t help but ponder later in life how much we have been simply gestalts in living our lives.
It’s good you now see the trees…
